Hmmm... so it's been a while, hasn't it? (Honestly, though... who's surprised? I am the world's worst blogger.) Anyways... nothing too exciting has been going on lately... just the usual fun at work and such. Crazy stuff is going on at work thanks to the city's budget problems. Yet, despite us having to reduce service one day during the week and some employees being notified of possible layoffs, the mayor wants all of our 20-some branches to be open seven days a week. Why? Because he's insane. We had a pilot program for Sundays a year ago and it was one of the least popular days of the week. Blaaah. So all of that's been a major pain-in-the-ass stress fest at work.
Moving on to happier subjects... since May 19 I've seen Revenge of the Sith three times. I loved it! So much better than Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. While there were a few things I wish had been better (the dialogue, lack of a good female heroine - 'cause Padme did nothing in this movie, other than give birth), it was still an excellent movie and very near the level of the original trilogy. I especially adored the ending... so perfect.
Haven't seen anything else in theatres, other than that. I might see Mr. and Mrs. Smith this week if I have a chance, and I'm still hoping to see Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants sometime with Lucy, but we haven't been able to find a day to see it that works for both of us. Sometime soon!
And I guess I missed blogging about most of the season finales, didn't I? Bad me! Let's see... a quick rundown (stop reading here if you want avoid spoilers)... I LOVED the end of Gilmore Girls and I do think the proposal will be for real. The look on Lorelai's face as Luke was talking truly made me feel like it was for real. Lauren Graham just rocks that way. The whole situation with Rory just made me want to scream. I felt bad for her in some respects, but I also think that she's jumping too quickly to the decision of leaving school. From everything we've seen in the past, Rory LOVES being at Yale. It seems that she's making a rash decision based solely on what Logan's father said to her. I hope she realizes that she does belong at Yale and reconciles with her mother. Richard and Emily? Sometimes I just want to throttle them. Oy. Loved the stuff with Lane & Mrs. Kim and Lane's band. Just classic and it was nice to see those two finally getting along with each other.
I also adored the CSI finale. You definitely get quality with Quentin Tarantino directing. Truly excellent in terms of direction and the acting from everyone. I was a bit disappointed in Lost. It wasn't horrible, but it didn't feel like enough happened, especially for a 2 hour finale... it could easily have been cut back to 1 hour. I'm still looking forward to Season 2, however. Alias was weird, but the ending was certainly exciting. No idea where they're going with that, but I'm dying to know! Ummm... what else? I think I'm done with Desperate Housewives... the show went downhill so much for me this season and I honestly don't care about it all. Grey's Anatomy was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to that returning. Charmed was pretty decent (it's pure guilty pleasure) and it easily could have been a series finale, but I do look forward to seeing how they handle next season.
Okay, I think that's it for the season finales I feel like mentioning. In terms of new fall schedules, I'm most annoyed about Veronica Mars moving to Wednesdays. Not only because it'll be against Lost (though if I was forced to choose... it'd easily be VM winning), but because it totally screws up my Tuesday nights with Laura. Veronica Mars fits perfectly between Gilmore Girls and Law & Order: SVU for us, and there's not much else that we'd both enjoy in that timeslot. Supernatural might be decent, but I'm not sure it's Laura's style. House could be something, but still... it's not VM. Sadness!
I've been drowning myself in Harry Potter stuff lately in anticipation of Half-Blood Prince's release (34 days left!!!!!!!!!). Rae made a new layout for the fanlisting and I did all new codes. Also, HBO has been showing Prisoner of Azkaban over and over, so I've seen it at least 3 times on there, I think? Not always the whole movie at once, but whenever it's on, I can't help but stop and watch it. I'm also re-reading the books... I think I'll be able to finish in time, because I usually have a hard time putting the books down. MUST HAVE BOOK SIX. I just hope Amazon delivers it early in the day... otherwise, I'll be very upset and may explode with impatience.
Okay... back to the season premiere of The Dead Zone (The 4400 rocked, as usual!). Hopefully I'll be back a little sooner next time.
Hope everyone is well!
