i love gene kelly

Whoo! New layout! Been meaning to do this since I picked up my "Singin' in the Rain" DVD. I absolutely adore the movie, Gene Kelly, and most especially, this song and scene. So amazingly beautiful and uplifting. (Susan, go rent the movie.) Comments, por favor. I hope everyone likes. Apologies in advance though to those of you with 1024x768... there'll be an annoying space on the right side. I'm an 800x600 gal, so I couldn't help that. smile

Hmmmm... so what's been going on since I've been neglecting my poor blog? Saw Paul McCartney on Tuesday. So fucking amazing. He was absolutely wonderful and sang as beautifully as he did when he was with the Beatles. The band with him was also incredible and played with so much passion. As Rae mentioned after she saw him, it's the closest you'll get to a Beatles concert. If you get the change, GO! And for anyone interested, here's the lovely setlist from my show. Loads of faves for me!

My aunt is visiting from Michigan this week... so I've been hanging with the family quite a bit. Haven't done anything else exciting this week, other than seeing Paul. I live the thrilling life, I know. La la la. Alrighty, tired and can't think of much else to say... should get to bed soon since we're going to breakfast early tomorrow. Toodles!

life's a show

"Life's not a song / Life isn't bliss / Life is just this / It's living"

Trying to stick to that motto right now. Blah. Just in a pissy mood... parents are being a pain and with other issues, I'm in a crappy mood tonight. Grrr. Especially annoying after yesterday was so nice.

Saw "La Boheme" at the Curran in San Francisco. SO lovely. Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin are GENIUS. The set. FUCKING GORGEOUS. And the singers were AMAZING. I'm not an opera fan, but my lord, that was just beautiful. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to see it. Scanned in the lovely info slips they had there. The first one features the Rodolfo and Mimi we saw (there are three different couples playing the roles).

Hmmm... doing last week's Friday Five since I forgot on my post.

1. If you could only choose 1 Cd to ever listen to again, what would it be?
Pink Floyd's "The Wall"

2. If you could only choose 2 movies to watch ever again, what would they be?
"Casablanca" and "Moulin Rouge"

3. If you could only choose 3 books to read ever again, what would they be?
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling, Alice in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll

4. If you could only choose 4 things to eat or drink ever again, what would they be?
Stuffing & gravy, Pumpkin pie, Strawberries, Chicken pot pie

5. If you could only choose 5 people to ever be/talk/associate/whatever with ever again, who would they be?
Obviously my parents and my brother. Other than that, I really can't choose. I have too many relatives and too many friends that I can't compare.

Alrighties... going to go concentrate on watching "Scrubs" since I have nothing of relevance to say. Later gators.

Had a fun weekend... Allie

Had a fun weekend... Allie and Kacie came to SJ and we went to see the Rilo Kiley gig in Los Gatos. Venue was funny... it was a club for teens... all ages, no alcohol, etc. Lots of high school age kids there. The band rocked... wish they had performed more songs, it was a very small place and more bands were playing. Loved going with Little Willow & Kacie. So glad those girls are near enough to come to events like that. Had a good laugh on the way back to the car after the show... bunch of kids were leaving the nearby high school after the football game there, and one of them started yelling something like "Go Santa Clara!" to us, and Little Willow yelled "Go West Side!" just to be funny (West Side was not one of the schools in the game, btw). The guy responds, with one of the those teen guys 'tudes, "Don't push me, bitch!" Little Willow's response? "Watch your mouth, young man." SO funny. Shut him up too. Go Little Willow!

Went to Tina's (my aunt) yesterday to spend time with her and kids... spent the night and came home late this evening. Had a very fun time. We took the kids to a large maze in Fairfield and had a blast going through that. Hung out watching movies and having malts and popcorn for the evening. Quite lovely. Today we headed over to the mall... Tina had some gift certificates to use for Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works, so I took the kids to Barnes & Noble and hung out there for while. Bought each of the kids a book because I'm a big softie (and I like buying them books... they need to read more).

Boomtown rocks. Love that show. It's so well done. Angel was okay. I enjoyed it more than last week's episode, but it still had a lot of flaws. Ah well. At least Buffy rocks. LOVED "Same Time, Same Place". I was really surprised by how much enjoyed it. I really wasn't expecting it. So yay to that.

Okies... done rambling weird thoughts... will try the Seven on Sunday before heading out:

sky's gonna open

So, finally able to blog again. Have been having issues with my host for about a week. Apparently my site says it's gone over my 500 MB storage limit, though I know I'm using less than 100 MB total. So I haven't been able to FTP or blog because of this. That meant the commenter for this wasn't working either... grrrr. But the most annoying thing is that I lost all my guestbook entries at Restless Innocence, and the members list for Crazy Little Thing lost all its entries. Blaaaaaaah. Am currently trying to find out if my host has back-ups of those files so I can restore the stuff. Very irritating. I'm really bothered by the lack of customer service I got with this whole situation. It took three days and multiple calls/e-mails from me to get anything done about the site, and it's still not fully fixed. They just increased my space temporarily until they can figure out what's going on. So, I think it's time for me to find a new host for this domain. Can anyone recommend a good host? Preferably with a large amount of space and bandwidth, webmail capabilities, and multiple FTP accounts for hosting. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Love and cookies from me and such.

Anyways... I seriously can't think of anything else to say. Isn't that sad? I haven't been able to blog and now I have nothing to say. Sigh sigh. What am I going to do with myself? Hey, at least I can do the Seven on Sunday since I missed it this weekend. Whoo!

Seven bands/musical acts you would kill to see live in concert
1. THE BEATLES
2. U2
3. Sarah McLachlan
4. Pink Floyd
5. The Who (okay... I've seen Roger, Pete, and John, but I mean the whole band... back when Keith Moon was alive)
6. Billy Joel & Elton John
7. Guster

I'm not listing DMB because I've seen them 6 times (Is that right? Must go count.) and have already killed for it. Shhh! Don't tell!

Oooh... here we go... since I couldn't think of anything fun to say, Susan decided to make up a fun little story for me:

"Let's see... hmmm... you're going to move to London because you've just been hired as an assistant casting director for PoA. You'll be living in a flat rented by WB and you'll also been attending Oxford on a full scholarship. Oh! And a wax mold of you will be on display. You do accept bribes, so if someone just happens to slip you a 100 dollar bill, you might get them in as an extra. And your new favorite drink is warm beer. (Ewww!!) And you'll be having tea with the Queen of England next month. You guys are such great friends you call her Liz. And she calls you 'A'."

I think this is actually Susan's dream. Ah well. I'm off to bed.
