pervy hobbit fanicers and more
Waaaaa. I want one of these. Is that so wrong of me? Trying not to spend money though. I'm sure I'll end up buying all of them though, knowing me. Really wanted a Pervy Hobbit Fancier one, but apparently they had to be removed until permission is received from Tolkien Enterprises. Bother bother.
Speaking of LotR... saw it again Friday night. Love that movie. Definitely should have won Best Picture. And oooh at Two Towers preview. Cannot wait to see. Good thing I'll have Episode II to occupy me in May. Will definitely help with the wait. Plus the FotR DVDs in August and November. Yay yay.
Gracias to everyone for the lovely comments and sympathy for the car accident. My neck is feeling quite good now. Just have to be careful not to strain it. Going to rent a car tomorrow so I don't have to have my parents transporting me everywhere till I get my car back (*sniff sniff*).
Had a very tiring, but fun day. Tina came down with the kids for Easter, which is always fun. Kids are crazy, but a blast to be with. Though Buzzy was very whiny and bratty. Felt really bad for Tina because she said he's been doing this for a few weeks now and I could see it's wearing her out. He just seems to want to scream and cry about everything when he can't get his way. Hmmm. Will probably go up there for a weekend next month to help Tina out.
Getting sleepy, so I'd better do this now, otherwise Rae might kill me. ;o) So, once again, Seven on Sunday with my favorite TV couples:
1. Buffy and Angel of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
2. John and Aeryn of Farscape
3. Mulder and Scully of The X-Files
4. Dana and Casey of Sports Night
5. Archie and Edith of All in the Family
6. Chandler and Monica of Friends
7. Willow and Tara of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
And with that, I'm off to bed.
car accidents suck
So. Had my first major car accident today. First off, I'm fine, as is Jeffy (who was with me). Just sore necks. We were rear ended while on our way home from the movies. The guy hit us so hard that we hit the car in front of us, even though we were at least a car length behind him and at a full stop. The front of my car looks almost fine since we didn't hit the guy in front very hard, but the back bumper is pretty torn up. Had to have the car towed away to a body shop. Just hoping it will be okay and won't take forever to fix. Sigh sigh. Definitely not the best way to end my day. Very happy both of us are okay, especially Jeffy. Mostly, we're just very shaken up. Called Doris earlier and she agreed to let me work just a half day tomorrow, instead of a full day, in case my neck is still sore and I need to go to the doctor. So that's good at least.
Anyways... the rest of the day was fairly pleasant. We saw "E.T." and enjoyed it thoroughly. Had a little trouble getting to the theater since we were in Milpitas and don't know that area very well. We were planning to see it at the theater in the Great Mall, but didn't find it in time to make the show, so we went to Mercado. Really wishing we had made it to the show at the Great Mall now. Oh well. C'est la vie, oui?
Want to thank everyone for the kind words on Restless Innocence's new layout and the new layout for this blog. Love the feedback and am grateful for the compliments.
Alrighties, off to do some relaxing. But before I go, pluggage for some peoples. Just 'cause I need some fun.
One . Two . Three . Four . Five
olivia is the coolest pig
Yay yay yay. So, I'm a dork. I'm supposed to be working on site updates, but instead I made a new layout for this blog. Go me! I highly doubt anyone will know what it's all about, unless they're Allie, but maybe I'll incite more people to check out the books. In case you're wondering, the sketches are from the children's book Olivia by Ian Falconer. It's an absolutely charming book about a little pig named Olivia who is completely headstrong and has an extremely creative imagination. There's also a second book called Olivia Saves the Circus, but I don't have that one yet and am too impatient to wait to get it and scan pics. Maybe when I get my hands on it, I'll add more pictures. Oh! And the "moved the cat" thing for the commenter is because "In the morning, after she [Olivia] gets up, and moves the cat, and brushes her teeth, and combs her ears, and moves the cat, Olivia gets dressed. She has to try on everything." So there you go. Now you know about Olivia. Phew. Didn't realize that would take so long!
Work was horrible today. Something's been wrong with the thermostat for a couple weeks now, and someone came by to fix it this morning, but he ended up screwing it up even more, so it was 84 degrees in the library today. Now, mind you, the high for today was only about 70 degrees. So it was perfect outside and stifling where I was. Nearly impossible to shelve. Eric and I only got two or three trucks done today 'cause we couldn't move quickly. We basically had to crawl along since the stacks were the worst. And, of course, the kids made a mess. They pulled a ton of books off the shelves in the children's area and left them all over the place. What fun.
So that was my crappy day. But, thankfully, I have tomorrow off! Very excited. I think Jeffy and I are going to lunch and a movie. Possibly "E.T." or "Gosford Park" (since she hasn't seen that one). Should be fun. Alrighties... off to watch some TV before heading to bed.
new yummy goodness
New layout up at Restless Innocence. Episode II goodness in the form of Padme and Anakin. Yes, I'm a freak. I actually started on the layout about a month ago, but didn't get around to finishing everything till today. Just too much going on.
Oooh... forgot to post a picture of my new desk the other day. So here it is in all it's glory. I am quite happy with it. More room and I can now keep the scanner on the desktop. Not that this matters at the moment since the scanner has decided to crap out on me. Joy. Need to call Visioneer manana, but I'm dreading being put on hold for an hour or more. It's happened before, trust me. Really hoping the problem can be fixed 'cause I don't want to have to buy a new scanner or pay for repairs on this one. Grr.
Anyways, feeling slightly tired, but not in the mood for bed yet, so I think I shall go watch a movie or some TV. Toodles.
Sigh sigh. So, overall, I must say I'm quite disappointed with the winners at the Oscars this year. The biggest disappointment for me was Halle Berry winning. I highly disliked "Monster's Ball", and I thought her performance in it was very one-dimensional and didn't show much depth or range. Just my opinion. So I was NOT happy when she won, especially when that meant Nicole didn't win. Didn't even watch her acceptance speech 'cause I was too annoyed. Very disappointed that "A Beautiful Mind" beat out "Moulin Rouge" and "Lord of the Rings". I liked ABM and thought it was a very well done movie, but not even close to MR and LotR. Happy about the awards MR and LotR did get though. And happy Jennifer Connelly won. Didn't mind Denzel winning. I haven't seen "Training Day", so I don't know how he compares to Russell (my choice), but I've never been disappointed by Denzel before and I liked that Julia got to give the award to him. Loved Whoopi's dig at the Academy for snubbing Baz. Thought the show was WAY too long though and entirely too boring. Oh! And yay for Randy Newman! I adore him and am so happy he finally got an award.
Anyways, need to get this in since I only have 20 minutes left... that's right! It's time for Rae's Seven on Sunday. So, with that in mind, my favorite TV characters:
1. Buffy on Buffy the Vampire Slayer
2. Mulder on The X-Files
tie Scully on The X-Files
3. Edith Bunker on All in the Family
4. Wesley on Angel
5. John Crichton on Farscape
6. Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Now I'm off for some Moulin Rouge goodness. Need something to cheer myself up.
on orders by rae
I've been ordered to blog by Rae, because according to her: "You need to blog more. I'm bored with reading the one about your cousins again. Not that they're not adorable, but I've read it quite a few times now."
So here I am... though with not much to say, I'm afraid. However, I do think Rae is insane... for multiple reasons, not the least of which is that she didn't enjoy Star Wars. *sniff sniff* But I think the dastardly moose has something to do with it as well (don't ask). Tarina, Chelsea and I (otherwise known as The Jedi Clan, according to Rae) need to get over there and watch it with her. 'Cause then she'd enjoy. How can you not with the three of us? She'd get a kick of us just quoting the whole movie on our own. Want to join in, Kiba? Seriously, Star Wars is just amazing. I know everyone has different tastes, but it's one of those things where it's completely foreign to me that someone doesn't enjoy it. Ah well. The Jedi Clan will have fun tying Rae to a chair to make her watch the whole thing with us. It's not evil. We're doing it for her own good!
Twin Peaks is quite cool. Rae has been bugging me to watch for ages now and I finally got the first season DVD set from the library (waiting list was a mile long). Thank goodness it's better than that movie which shall not be named. *cough*MulhollandDrive*cough* Though I think I may have discovered the reason why. According to IMDb, David Lynch only wrote three episodes for the show and directed only five. Of course, there's also the fact that this show has an actual purpose. There is a mystery to be solved, whereas that most horrible of movies was just a jumbled mess of who knows what. But yeah, anyways... should I just convert this to a blog where I bitch about that movie? 'Cause I think I'm doing way too much of it. Eh, fuck it. It's mine so I'll complain if I like. Back to praising Twin Peaks: Agent Cooper is just the coolest character. He's so completely quirky and funny. And Kyle McLachlan does a great job. Oh! And how cool is that Riff and Tony from West Side Story (Russ Tamblyn and Richard Beymer) are both on the show? That thrills me to no end, being the huge West Side Story geek that I am.
Lordy, I really need to start cleaning my desk. See what a mess it is? Because I'm insane and have an addiction to spending money, I bought a new desk and chair (okay, I really needed the chair though) at Best Buy on Monday. And since I want to move the new desk into my room tomorrow, really need to clean this one off tonight. But I'm lazy and love to procrastinate, so I haven't done it yet.
Sigh sigh. Alright, must go upload what I have done for Much Ado and Flights of Angel. Not much since I've been too busy, but at least it's something. Later later.
I don't think I got any work done this weekend. Why, you ask? I spent most of it at my aunt's house. Layla had a horse show this morning at the ungodly hour of 8am. So I drove up there yesterday and spent the night in order to see her ride. Which meant I had to get up at 6am this morning. On a Sunday. Which is just wrong. But, hey, it was worth it. She did a wonderful job and rode very well. Plus I got to spend time with her and the other kids and take a ton of pictures (I think I snapped close to 200). And why not share some of my favorites?
So I'm a sucker for my cousins. What can I say?
I think I need to close some sites... or give them away... 'cause I'm having an insane time trying to update everything on time. Sigh sigh. But there's nothing I want to give up. I love them all. Is that sad and pathetic? I already closed the ones I disliked a few months ago. At least the Buffy/Angel hiatus will give me time to relax and work on fanlistings and such. And maybe a redesign for Restless Innocence. We shall see.
Okies... getting close to that time where I have to go sleep in order to not collapse onto the keyboard, but before I go, Rae's Seven for Sunday!
1. The Wall by Pink Floyd
2. The Beatles (White Album) by The Beatles
3. The Joshua Tree by U2
4. Unplugged by Eric Clapton
5. Abbey Road by The Beatles
6. Out of Time by R.E.M.
7. Surfacing by Sarah McLachlan
Actually did this last week while chatting with Rae... was really hard to narrow down because I have a lot of favorite albums. But these are the ones I love the most. I think. ;o)
Minesweeper is really a very silly game. But I'm so tired and bored out of my skull that it's really quite addictive. Hmm hmm. I think I need a new hobby. Actually, scratch that. I don't. I have plenty of things to do, I'm just too tired and too lazy to do them right now. So Minesweeper it is.
Snatch is an awesome movie. Just watched my newly purchased DVD (well, it was new when I bought it on Tuesday!) and am loving it more than I did before. Brad Pitt, Vinnie Jones, and Jason Statham rock. Everyone else rocks too, I'm just singling out some of my favorites. La la la. I spend too much money. Was supposed to be saving this month, but I went to pick up the SE of Romeo & Juliet (the only DVD I was allowing myself) on Tuesday and came home with Snatch, Casablanca, and R&J. This is what happens when I'm left alone in Best Buy while the salesclerk searches the stock room for R&J for 20 minutes. Course he didn't end up finding it, so I had to go to 2 other stores to get it. This is how insane I am for Baz.
Blaaaah... too tired to think of anything creative to say, except that ferrets are cool. And with that, the Friday Five:
1. What's your favorite animal? Cats and dolphins
2. What pets have you had in your lifetime? I have two cats right now, Midnight and Dawn. In the past, I've had 4 other cats: PG&E, Spunky, Smokey, and Oreo. We've also had fish at home for as long as I can remember.
3. Is there any specific pet that you've wanted but never had? Why? I would love to own a ferret. They are just adorable, but unfortunately it's illegal to own a ferret in California.
4. Are you allergic to any animals? Nope.
5. Do you have any 'pet' pet peeves (your pets or others')? I can't stand when people neglect their pets. Our neighbors used to own a dog which they kept locked up in a small enclosure. He was rarely taken on walks, never brought inside, and as far as I know, never shown any kind of love, except from my family when we fed him snacks and petted him through a small hole in the fence. People like my neighbors should not be allowed to have pets.
Aaaah! Rebecca, why did you not tell me about Tigerland sooner? That movie was just amazing. So well done. Now I really must buy the DVD. Better hope Best Buy doesn't have it when I go to pick up Romeo & Juliet on Tuesday. Otherwise I'll be spending more money than I need to. Seriously. Must save. But anyways, everyone should go rent Tigerland. Absolutely wonderful movie. Does anyone know why it wasn't released nationwide though? From what IMDb had listed, it looks like it only opened in L.A. and New York, which I can't understand. Hmm hmm.
Rae comes up with the coolest ideas. So, without further ado, the Sunday Seven:
My seven favorite songs of all time:
1. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by U2
2. Hey Jude by The Beatles
3. Grace is Gone by Dave Matthews Band
4. Bad by U2
5. Blackbird by The Beatles
6. Behind Blue Eyes by The Who
7. Hotel California by The Eagles
Wow. That was seriously tough to put together. Pick something easier next time, Rae! Jeez. I really don't think even seven is enough when there are so many beautiful songs out there. Hmph.
Alrighties... off to finish watching Jon on SNL. Because I love Jon. Seriously.
Yay yay yay. Actually made it in time for the Friday Five.
1. What makes you homesick? Thinking about my family sitting down for dinner together or to watch a movie. Thinking about how my poor cat Dawn is stuck outside in the garage at night when I'm not around.
2. Where is "home" for you? Is it where you are living now, or somewhere else (ie: Mom & Dad's house, particular state/city)? Home is right where I am. Still in San Jose, California with my family.
3. What makes it home for you? People? Things? My family, my cats, my room.
4. Where is the furthest you've been from home, miles-wise? About 2600 miles. That's approximately the distance from San Jose to where Rae lives in New York. Hawaii and Toronto came in 2nd and 3rd.
5. What are your plans for this weekend? Mostly hanging at home with Mom. Tu Lan is home for the weekend though, so we're having breakfast at Hobee's tomorrow. Not sure about the rest though. Lots of work to get done, especially site-wise.
And: Happy Birthday, Jeffy! *Hugs* and much love to you, chica. I miss you!
I think Dawn is mad at me. She was sitting in my lap here at the computer, but I made her get off 'cause I couldn't type with her in the way (and if I try to go around her, she nips at my fingers). Now she's sitting on the floor next to my chair glaring at me. Hmmm. Cats have very nasty glares sometimes. Ah well. She'll get more lap time in a bit.
Thanks to everyone for the kind messages after my post a few days ago. Was really nice to read all the sweet comments. Mom is home from the hospital (she was released this morning) and is doing very well. So things are slowly getting back to normal (or whatever my version of normal is).
So yeah, it's now 10:20pm, and I started writing this sometime around 8pm. Pretty crazy, huh? Leanna called while I was writing earlier, and we chatted for a while, then I had to call Jeffy, but she wasn't home, so I talked to Karen till West Wing came on, and I had to run off to watch that. And I just now got off the phone with Jeffy (she called me back). Much craziness, but very fun.
Good lord. I literally have nothing so say. Really need to learn to blog only when I can think of things. Pretty sure my brain is just fried from everything over the past week. Actually, there was something I wanted to say earlier today, but now I've completely forgotten it. Oh well. I shall slink off in shame of my lackluster post and go work on updates.
Btw, Dawn is now happily asleep on her bed.
annoying phone calls
Good gracious. If the phone ever stops ringing, I think I might die of shock. Just got yet another call about voting tomorrow. I really hate those things. They're all pre-recorded, which is just the lamest thing ever. Like I'm going to sit there and listen to some recording tell me how I should vote. Blech. I'll make my own decisions, thank-you-very-much.
Other calls have all been from relatives. My mom's been very sick for the past week (hence the weirdness of the last post), so everyone's calling to check on her. Mind you, I have 14 blood-related aunts and uncles, so that's a lot of phone calls. Mom's back in the hospital (she was there for one day last week... lot of good it did her) and seems to be much better. Dad took her in last night 'cause she's just been getting worse and worse. They told her she had low sodium (after telling her last week she had high blood pressure and needed to avoid things like sodium... go figure) and was dehydrated, so they checked her in and put her on a saline IV, which seems to be helping quite a bit. She sounded really good when I talked to her on the phone earlier. She's supposed to be released tomorrow, as long as things continue on an upward slope. Hope they do.
So, yeah, things have been pretty stressful around here. Just loads of worrying over various things. Plus Mom and Dad were supposed to leave yesterday for a three week road trip to Florida, which will not be happening at all now. Such is life though, si?
Alrighties... phone is ringing yet AGAIN. Off to answer.
the craziness of life
Life is just weird. Yes, yes. Stating the quite obvious, I know. But this week has been especially strange (and not in a pleasant way). Monday was fine, but Tuesday... everything just went all wonky. Hmmm. And no, I'm not going into details about this. Just not in the mood to blog about it right now.
Anyways... since I'm not going to ramble on about that stuff, can I just say that I adore the Moulin Rouge 2 soundtrack? Best thing about it: the first track is the instrumental version of "Your Song" from the DVD's 2nd disc. Rae knows how insane I was going over that piece of music when I got the DVD. So gorgeous. Okay, the whole CD is wonderful. Just so happy to finally have it. Kristina, did you get a copy? If not, let me know and I'll send you the track list. Also, remind me that I owe you an e. Bought Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on DVD while I was at Best Buy as well. Couldn't resist. It was only $18, which I think is a bargain deal for a 2-disc set. Hmmm. Really need to stop spending money. Credit card bills are already insane enough. Which reminds me... need to get Bryan to write me a check for the DMB tickets since he's taking Eileen (as I can't go... *sniff sniff*).
Good lord... this is getting so boring, isn't it? I have nothing exciting to say. Seriously. Maybe I should just talk about TV since I'm not in the mood for real life issues? Ummm... Buffy was pretty good this week. Wasn't overly thrilled with Riley (though it was nice to see Marc again), but he redeemed himself at the end with his lovely words to Buffy. And the ending was perfect. So well done. Though Rae has vowed that she's done with the show, so that's a drawback. Sigh sigh. West Wing is such an wonderful show. I always have this amazing feeling of joy after watching it. Everytime. It was the same thing with Sports Night. Hence my intense love of Aaron Sorkin. I miss Sports Night like crazy. Thank goodness for the Comedy Central reruns, though they've done a pretty icky job of hacking it up for commercials (why they can't just insert them where they were meant to be, I'll never understand).
Alrighty... can't think of anything intelligent to say, so I'm off to veg in front of the TV and then possibly do some reading ('cause I REALLY more time for it). Toodles.
